Net Zero Together

 Net Zero Together

Net Zero Together (NZT) is a 10-week (six hours per week) skills bootcamp which centres around sustainability and we have co-designed the course with industry and academic experts to demystify net zero for employees. The NZT Bootcamp, fully funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), focuses on upskilling employees so they become champions in the understanding of green skills, sustainability, and net zero within their organisations, and to encourage discussion around the three pillars of the course: sustainability, net zero, and life cycle assessment (LCA) & circular economy (CE).

The course’s structure is unique in that as well as having three in person days which each day has a specific focus, the rest of the course is taught bimodal (virtual and in-person options available).  The first half of the course focuses on teaching and discussion to develop the knowledge and skills aligned with the three pillars of the course; and the second half of the course is participant led group projects where the attendees have 5 weeks to produce and develop a sustainability/net-zero idea which could be taken back to an organisation within their group.

The course was produced and is run by the NZT team at the University of Birmingham and is aimed at employees within the West Midlands who are starting out or wish to further develop their sustainability skills.
